Plein Air in the Pumpkin Patch

I'm in an orange phase.....these pumpkins just seem to radiate happiness.  There are plenty of pumpkin farms in the neighborhood, this one happens to be at Barthels.  The early spring frost was devastating to these apple growers, the fields are usually filled with families picking apples.

On this morning, the slate blue clouds were forming which I felt created a nice contrast to the orange pumpkins.  I will do a larger painting from this study.

  1. Hi Pam! Happy Birthday! (a bit late)
You painted our house a couple of summers ago. I have the three girls who love to paint and we came out to watch you. Do you remember sitting on the deck and talking and we discovered our birthdays were the same day? (Or was it almost the same day?) And then we kept running into each other in various places. Is it coincidence, or God-incidence? Well, I'm rambling, and I just wanted to tell you that when I'm feeling down sometimes I pop into your world of Wonder to enjoy your beautiful use of color! It really lifts my spirits. Those pumpkins definitely look fun to paint... hmmm... You've inspired me to think of a painting project involving pumpkins with the girls. Paint on brave lady! I don't know how you do it in the cold!
Hope we bump into one another soon,
    Katie R.
