Spring?
Painted yesterday with the Wisc. plein air painters group near Old Ashippun. I loved the way these farm buildings held together. The morning was a mix of sun, wind and clouds. There was a very light frost/snow cover on the grass, but I decided to make it more of a true spring painting.

Schlitz Audubon #43
Despite the howling winds, rain, sleet, rain and hail of the past few days, today was a cold but beautiful morning to paint. Still a trace of snow in some areas by Mystery Pond. I enjoyed the company of these beautiful geese for most of my time painting this morning.

Schlitz Audubon #42
Okay, I had to squeeze in one more ice/water painting. Alex (my four year old) said, "Mommy, these look like your other lake paintings." Yup, that's the plan! Even if a four year old doesn't notice, the shapes change all the time making it a subject that hasn't lost my attention.

Schlitz Audubon #41
Another glorious morning. The warmer weather on the horizon may make this my last ice painting of the season. Odd, I know, but I will miss the ice and snow!

Schlitz Audubon #39 & 40
These were painted on what most people would consider another boring, gray, overcast day. But these days are ones I love at Lake Michigan because of that slate blue sky against the green water. It continues to take my breath away. I feel a call to return, until the ice melts away and attempt to capture this "wonder."

Schlitz Audubon #37 & 38
The ice is finally receding on the lakefront, revealing more water and birds. Looks like the geese are returning in full force.
