Mini Madness at the Cedarburg Cultural Center

While March Madness sweeps the country and smells of spring fill the air, there are tiny little pieces of art on display through March that are worth a visit to the Cedarburg Cultural Center.  These pieces of art may be small in size, but are powerful in statement.  29 Wisconsin artists have been juried into this exhibit and I was fortunate enough to receive one of the awards.  My mini theme is tiny clusters of farm animals, including Brace, Brood, Clutch, Herd and Litter.

Stop in to say HI during Wednesdays this month at the Cedarburg Cultural Center as I'm artist in residence.  I'll also be teaching a workshop at the end of the month as well.

On Wisconsin

I'm excited to be part of this "On Wisconsin" exhibit at Bohemia in Cedarburg, WI.  A life-long Wisconsin resident and lover of all things Wisconsin, you'll find art inspired by our glorious state.  Join us for a fun evening Friday, May 16th from 6-9 p.m. at Bohemia, located in the heart of downtown Cedarburg at W62N587 Washington Ave.  262.375.2700.  Two other amazing landscape artists are also featured including Susan Hale and Lynn Rix!

Maple Syrup Time!

Just before all the snow disappeared, I had a wonderful opportunity to go out painting a few times on a friends property where they are collecting sap for maple syrup production.
Like most things in life, it's a labor of love.  But then the reward is tasty in this case and we can only imagine those pancakes smothered in this 100% homemade maple syrup.
This painting is "Ricky's Passion."  (Plein Air, 9 x 12)

Shades of Gray

On March 6th we set out to paint in overcast conditions.  I find the lack of sun much more challenging when it comes to painting the snow.
The first stop was a beautiful church just north of Mequon.  I've always loved how there's a nice farm across the street.  A unique scene when you live so close to a big city.

Getting started

"Lakefield Road" 10 x 12

Then we ventured off to the Cedarburg Quilt Museum.  I have always loved how the buildings are all tucked together, cozy and warm just like a quilt on a gray day.

Cedar Creek

We are fortunate to live nearby the charming town of Cedarburg.  As an artist, I am grateful for the people of the community who had the foresight to save the historic buildings.  It's no wonder Cedarburg has so many artists, it's very inspiring!
On this very cold Saturday, a few friends and I set up along the creek in knee deep snow and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the creek.  Our friend Anne stopped by with some much needed hot chocolate!

Bohemia

It's always a nice having a venue to exhibit your work locally.  And that opportunity came knocking a few months ago from the energetic and creative team at Bohemia in Cedarburg.
I am honored to be among other local artists who have their work at this fun new shop in Cedarburg.  It's a wonderful mix of home decor, art and accessories in the heart of downtown.  Just a few doors down from Amy's Candy Kitchen, home to the super yummy apples!

Stop in, browse, chat and be inspired!
