Schlitz Audubon #46

Happy Syttende Mai everyone, that's Norwegian Independence Day for all you non-Norwegians out there. The lakefront at Schlitz was absolutely freezing this morning, but I thought I'm a hardy, tough Norwegian and better brave it out!

Black Tie Affair

This grouping of cows was a real challenge with all the interconnecting shapes and patterns. These cows were huddled together and looked as though they were having morning coffee and chatting about their plans for the day. It is 16 x 20.....will be on display at the Artbar " Summer in Wisconsin" show opening on Friday night.

Schlitz Audubon #45

Had a ton of fun painting these little kids scooping up stuff at Boardwalk Pond. All so eager to learn and discover. I even learned about a new turtle today (by listening in)....here's a cute little Blanding Turtle with the distinctive yellow neck. This was my first attempt painting children at Schlitz.

Kewaskum plein air event

Despite the crazy cold and raw weather, I sure had a great time participating in the Kewaskum plein air event alongside many talented artists. I managed to do three paintings, two I still need to do a little work on. My goal with the goat painting was to plein air paint "recognizable" goats. These goats provided hours of entertainment at Darlene's beautiful farm. I even got to hold a ONE DAY old goat that evening, along with an armful of kittens. And their daughter picked dandelions for us all evening long. Our easels and palettes were graced with yellow dots everywhere!

Schlitz Audubon #44

It's been a few weeks since painting out, this morning was beautiful along the lake with an overcast sky and the sounds of buds just bursting everywhere. This little forsythia caught my attention next to the giant, weathered pines.

Happy Campers

On the way to my parent's farm, I pass this little group of Scottish Highlander Cattle that always seem so happy and content. Have been meaning to paint them for years and finally got around to it!
